Enrollment Trends

In the most recent strategic plan, NC State is committed to increasing the number of new transfer students to 1,680 by fall 2025. This commitment opens access to more students to the University and enables the conferral of more degrees. From Fall 2015 to Fall 2021, the transfer cohort size increased by 26%.
NC State is committed to increasing the number of new transfer students with an emphasis on creating pipelines from North Carolina’s Community Colleges. This commitment opens access to the university and decreases cost to students choosing this path to NC State. From fall 2015 to fall 2021, the number of new community college transfers increased by 31%.

Transfer Pathways

NC State offers program for students to transfer to the university from North Carolina community colleges and from other universities. The university offers drop-in advising for prospective transfers and sends counselors out to local community colleges to provide transfer advising. NC State has also modified its transfer admission practices and course articulation processes to better serve transfer populations.
NC State is committed to creating paths from enrollment in a North Carolina community college to a degree at NC State.  In fall 2021, 59% of all new transfer students enrolled are from one of the state’s 58 community colleges and 22% are from the UNC System’s 16 university campuses across the state.  Beginning in fall 2017, the Goodnight Scholars Program will extend to these new students.  Most new students come from Wake Technical Community College but all 58 community colleges are represented at NC State.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE COLLABORATION (C3)

The C3 program is a guaranteed pathway for NC Community College students who aspire to complete their bachelor’s degree at NC State. C3 is a dual-admissions program between NC State and community college partners.

The DALE EARNHARDT LEGACY PROGRAM

The Dale Earnhardt Legacy Program, supported by the Dale Earnhardt Foundation, provides pathways for students interested in studying environmental majors to NC State. 

PACKTRAC

PackTrac is a partnership with North Carolina community colleges to provide academic training and advising to students who are interested in agriculture and desire to pursue a degree at NC State.
